Maga Khan is a 30 year old folk musician from Bhadres, a small village near Barmer, Rajasthan. Bhadres is around 20 kilometres away from Barmer. He belongs to the Mirasi Manganiyar tribe. He has three brothers, and all of his family members including his parents are involved in folk music. As a child, he was inspired by his father to enter the realm of folk music. He wishes to follow the footsteps of his ancestors and earn his own identity in the domain of Rajasthani folk music. He has pursued his Bachelors and Masters degree in History. While pursuing his education he realized that musicians are not educated enough, and that this lack of education is a big hurdle in their quest to become successful. Therefore, in 2010, he established ‘Panihaari Folk Music Foundation’, with the aim of reviving the essence of folk music amongst youngsters and make them educationally proficient as well so that they learn on a holistic level. He gathers small kids from villages and arranges teachers for their education, in addition to providing them musical training for making them competent. He realizes that in order to share one’s art, and thus earn a certain number of shows, good quality music videos play a significant role. He appreciated Anahad’s initiative, and was hopeful that artists would benefit greatly from the videos made by Anahad.
