Group: Samdhe Khan and Group
Anwar Khan was born in the village Umbrod, located in Barmer district and, like most other Manganiyar musicians, is one of the latest generations of individuals in his family to continue their tradition of choosing music as their choice of profession. He is the cousin of the leader of his folk group, Samdhe Khan, and has been playing music since he was only 8 years old.
He began to learn from his father when he was just 8 years old, while he was studying in school. He only completed his education till 5th grade and then decided to pursue music, just like everyone else in his family.
He has performed in almost all the states of India, and considers his performances in the state of Assam as the most memorable as well as appreciated ones. Apart from Assam, he has made appearances in states like Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Uttarakhand as well as Gujarat and Delhi.
He believes that the Mangniyars should stick to their traditional art form in the truest sense possible. He also yearns for more support from the government as well as the community and encourages them to not get distracted from their traditional form of music.
