Samdhe Khan, who is currently at the age of 35, started learning music when he was just 8 years old. He was born in the village Umbrod and belongs to the Manganiyar community of Barmer district and learned the traditional folk music of the region from his father who used to sing as well as play Harmonium. His first performance was in the Government College in Barmer and since then he has performed almost all over the country.
One of his best performances was in Darjeeling for a corporate company called SK Lights, where the audience truly appreciated the display of their talents. They have also performed in Siligudi, Gujrat and have covered most of Rajasthan while traveling for their performances.
Samdhe Khan, despite his undeniably remarkable abilities in his discipline, he doesn’t earn enough to make ends meet for his family. His monthly income is under twenty thousand rupees in a month and which is not enough to make for a comfortable living, especially in a region with such lack of amenities and extreme weather conditions.
