Phurwahi is a highly energetic folk dance form in the Awadhi region of Uttar Pradesh. This dance form is ages old and the art and music of this form have been alive for many centuries now. Phurwahi was suddenly starting to vanish but the dancers and musicians of the region are now making considerable efforts to preserve and promote this art form.

(Shiva captivates my heart; the beautiful waves of celestial Ganga river ornament his head)

(These waves stir and flow through the depths of his hair)

(He has a brilliant fire burning on the surface of his forehead)
Kishora chandrashekhare ratih pratikshanam mama
(And wears the crescent moon as a jewel on his head)
