Lyrics –

Are masolani Hiter gayo

Tulsi gaaye kabir

Karat bhajan gandhi gaye

Kitne gaye fakir

Are jeene ka na ghum kaaro

Are marne ka afsoos

Ye kagaz ke naav ke

Santo kavan bharosa

Suganva ke tohra sang jaayi
(Oh human, once you die, which part of your possessions will go with you?)

Aavat ke dinwa bajal badhai
(When you come to the world, celebrations happen)

Jaat ke matam chhayi
(When you leave, only pain remains)

Ab bhai bandhu kutumb kabila
(Brother, friends, and all the family members)

Rove aansu bahayi
(They cry with tears when you leave)

Suganva ke tohra sang jaayi
(Oh human, once you die, which part of your possessions will go with you?)

Ab chandan dhoop dashaan jala ke
(With sweetly scented incense sticks)

Sundar saaj sajayi
(Death bed is decorated)

Ab char jhane mil kandhe laga
(Four people pick you up on their shoulder)

Ghate tak pahuchayi
(And take your soulless body to the cremation ground)

Suganva ke tohra sang jaayi
(Oh human, once you die, which part of your possessions will go with you?)

Chhati peet mata rove
(Mother cries tears of pain)

Baah pakad saga bhai
(Real brother holds your hand)

Choodi phod ke tiriya rovein
(Wife cries, breaks bangles)

Chit jala baurayi
(chita jala ke sab dukh me pagal se ho jaate hain)
(People lose themselves in grief after they put fire to the pyre)

Dware tak tiriya pahuchayi hain
(Wife sends you off from the doorstep)

Kutumb ghat le jaayi
(And members of the family take you to the cremation ground)

Jaar phoonk ke khaakh banayi hain
(You become ash; the fire consumes your body)

Phir lavat ghar aayi
(Your relatives bring your ashes back home)

Suganva ke tohra sang jaayi

Jaisan karni waisan bharni
(You get what you sow)

Neki badi sang jaayi
(Only good deeds are counted)

Reh jaayi sab maal khajana
(All the wealth earned during the lifetime stays back)

Jayi na sang ek paayi
(Not a single penny goes with you)

Swami Bihari Pattu chal gaye
(Even the biggest of personalities are not spared by this truth)

Sarju ko lehal bulayi
(I will call Sarju)

Sarju ko bhi bula liya
(The banks of Saryu call you)

Yadav munsi kavita savare
(Yadav and Minshi are writing poems)

Kahein manna jawahar sang Bhai
(Mannu lal and Jawahar preach together)
