This song is expressing feelings of love for someone who is truly special to the singer. He tells her that as a “pahadi” he speaks the truth and the truth is that he lost his heart to her, the first time he saw her. A cuckoo bird, sitting on a tree reminds the singer of his lover and he starts missing her while the society frowns upon him and her for being distant from each other. He feels the pain of longing for his lover and thinks that he will lose his mind without her.
