This is a Qawwali, a very devotional song on the lines of Sufism accompanied by an energetic performance by the qawwals. These songs aim to take its listeners, especially the devotees or murids in a state of religious trance. This song can have two interpretations, one, in which one murid/devotee is expressing his admiration and love to his Pir (saint) and says that he wishes to be by his side forever. A very spiritual form of love that a devotee shares for his saint. Similarly, the other another narrative believes it to a call of love for the mashuk (beloved) by the Ashique (lover)

Lyrics –

Ay Gham-E-Yaar Tere Dam Se Hai Tameer E Hayat
(O grief, my friend, life is because of you)

Tu Salamat Hai To Mitti Meri Barbad Nahi…
(If you are safe, then my roots will always remain strong)

Dil me Jigar me aankh me bas tu hee tu rahe
(You are based in my mind, soul, and eyes)

Iske siva na aur koi aarzoo rahe
(Apart from this, I don’t seek anything else)

Is iltija ke baad koi iltija nahin
(Apart from this prayer, I don’t pray for anything)

Mere sanam humesha mere roobaroo rahe
(My beloved, I wish you stay in front of me always)

Jannat mere naseeb ki
(The luck of my heaven)

Ba isko baksh de
(Give it to my beloved)

Mere dafan me gesue ja naki boo rahe
(Within me, the perfume of hair has immersed)

Kamil ko kamil e eemaan bana de tu
(You make a person whole with dignity)

Ye zindagi rahe na rahe
(This life should not sustain)

Aabroo rahe
(Only respect should be there)

Dil me Jigar me aankh me bas tu hee tu rahe
(You are based in my mind, soul, and eyes)
