Sawai khan, 18, lives in Kalakaar Colony in Barmer with his family of 5 people. He learned music from his father and grandfather and started playing kamaicha at the age of 10. He believes that a musical family background allows him to learn music with ease. His gharaana is famous for Madh singing (performance in front of kings). He did schooling till 5th grade but could not pursue further education due to lack of money and support from family. At a very early age, Sawai was forced to start working and bring food on the table, so he understands well the current scenario of the Manganiyar community where education is not given much priority.

He performs in raag Bhairavi and Kalyaan depending upon the time of the day. Anwar Ali has been a huge inspiration and motivation for him. He wishes to grow as a folk artist and gain popularity in and around the country.
