Irfana completed a four-year degree in Sufiana Santoor from Kashmir University, mastering the santoor and sitar. Her specialisation in Kashmiri classical and Sufi music showcases her profound connection to her cultural roots. Irfana’s musical journey began at home, inspired by her father’s practice and training. Along with her sister Rehena, what started as a hobby quickly became a professional pursuit. Their enthusiasm attracted other neighbourhood girls, leading to the formation of the Yemberzal Group. This group has since performed at various prestigious venues, including Radio Kashmir, and has even taken their talent to the national stage.
Irfana’s musical prowess extends beyond singing; she is also a talented composer, breathing new life into the compositions of Sufi poets.
