JIVAN GHANDGE AND GROUP

Jivan Sheshrao Ghandge, a 22-year-old folk artist from Alandi, Pune, found his path in music in an unexpected way. As a child, his mischievous nature led his family to enroll him in religious education, hoping to instill discipline. It was here that he was first introduced to music—a discovery that changed his life. Finding peace in its rhythms, he decided to pursue it seriously, earning his family’s support as they saw his newfound focus and dedication.

Now pursuing a BA in Music, Jivan is deeply aware of the nuances of traditional and folk music. He believes that while classical music requires patience and technical understanding, folk music’s regional dialects and storytelling make it instantly relatable. His passion lies in keeping these traditions alive, especially at a time when younger generations are drawn more to contemporary music.

Joining him in this mission is Angad Shirang Shinde, a 25-year-old musician from Alandi who has devoted over 15 years to folk music. With a BA in Arts, Angad brings a wealth of experience and dedication to their shared vision.

Together, Jivan and his group are determined to preserve the essence of traditional music. Jivan sees education as the key to passing on this heritage—he believes that only by fully understanding its roots can he teach future generations with authenticity. Through their performances and commitment, they strive to ensure that the soul of folk music continues to resonate for years to come.
