Anamika Pandey, a 36-year-old dedicated artist from Chhatarpur, is known for her commitment to preserving Bundeli folk music and sharing its beauty with the world. Born into a family where music was deeply rooted, her journey started in a home filled with melodies. Today, Anamika’s group is a reflection of her dedication to fostering talent and promoting Bundeli music. Among her team members is 21-year-old Bhumika Sharma, also from Chhatarpur. With four years of experience in music, Bhumika has spent the last year learning Bundeli songs. Alongside her passion for singing, she is also training in harmonium, adding versatility to the group’s performances.  

Another key member is 14-year-old Anamika Tiwari, with family ties to Anamika Pandey as her cousin. Anamika Tiwari, like her older cousin, grew up immersed in music, making her the third generation in their family to contribute to this tradition. Her first teacher was also Urmila Pandey, and she has been part of the musical journey for the past six to seven years.  

Adding rhythm and depth to their music is Mahendra Chadar, the 25-year-old dholak player in the group, has been immersed in music since childhood. Beginning at just 10 years old, Mahendra found his rhythm in the beats of the Dholak, growing up surrounded by the sounds of traditional music. Today, with years of practice and dedication, Mahendra performs on prestigious stages alongside his guru, proudly carrying forward the legacy of traditional music.

The eldest in the group, however, is 81-year-old Channu Lal Soni. A veteran manjira player, Channu Lal’s connection to music spans over three decades. His journey began when he was just 15, and since then, he has graced many stages, sharing his talent with audiences across the region.  

Together, Anamika and her team have become torchbearers of Bundeli folk music. Their performances celebrate not just melodies but the stories, emotions, and traditions of Bundelkhand. Each member brings something unique to the group, whether it’s experience, youthful enthusiasm, or a deep connection to the roots of their culture.
