AMRITDHARA GROUP

The Gaadi Nuvala Ensemble, also known as Amrit Dhara, hails from the picturesque valleys of Chamba and Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. This talented group is dedicated to preserving Nuvala, a rare and enchanting folk art form that celebrates the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati through a seamless blend of storytelling, music, and dance. Under the guidance of their mentor, Guruji Janme Jai Singh Guleria, the ensemble has become a beacon of cultural pride and devotion in the region. The group comprises 12 women singers, 2 male vocalists, and 8 female dancers, all of whom bring unparalleled passion to their craft. Guruji Guleria, a revered figure in the community, has devoted his life to teaching Nuvala and related art forms like Jamkaara (playful wedding songs), Suhaag (songs for the bride), and Sehra (songs for the groom). He has also performed for Dharamshala’s radio station, further adding to the group’s credibility and prominence. Their performances, steeped in devotion and storytelling, transport audiences into a world of divine tales. Dressed in vibrant traditional Himachali bridal attire, the dancers use their intricate costumes and accessories to enhance the visual storytelling, leaving audiences mesmerized. The group also performs devotional songs dedicated to local deities during Jaagrans and community gatherings, reinforcing their spiritual connection with the local populace. Despite their immense talent, the Gaadi ensemble remains humble and committed to their mission of preserving their heritage for future generations. They often perform without charge, driven by their passion for sharing their art and keeping their tradition alive. The group’s unity, dedication, and love for music make them extraordinary artists who inspire everyone they encounter. They strongly believe in gratitude and feel content with what the Almighty has blessed them with. Their story is a shining example of how art, devotion, and cultural pride can harmoniously coexist, enriching India’s cultural landscape and inspiring generations to come.
