The Project Chaiti is a folk fusion project inspired by the rich folk tradition of the northern and central Uttar Pradesh. Chaiti, originally a folk song is sung in the month of Chait (post springtime) which narrates the story of the spring and its flavors in our life. The Project Chaiti talks of the visible loss of subtlety and simplicity of a “lost” era, in a very contemporary portrayal of the folklore to paint a picture through the eyes of the protagonist of the current generation.
Lead singer of Chaiti, Sunakshi Raina, unfortunately passed away on 24th of December, 2013. Sunakshi had a beautiful moving melodious voice that led her to become the participant of Indian Idol 4. She in fact had her own YouTube channel which became highly popular in a short span of time. She was a soulful singer who believed in music as a medium of social change. Chaiti, her first project was very close to her heart. We welcome your support to fulfill her unfinished dream and make her voice reach out to people and let them know about the initiative she believed in.
