Group: Jwala Prasad and Group
A 55 -years-old artist from Dura, Agra, has been learning music through Braj Lokgeet. He began to sing first taking inspiration from Jwala Prasad. Jwala Ji motivated him to sing with his first and then seeing his dedication, helped him learn the harmonium. He considers Jwala Prasad as his guru and speaks very highly of their teaching as well as calibre in the field of music. He has been accompanying Jwala Prasad from the beginning of his musical journey and sings Jwala Ji’s compositions mostly. He also believes that music is a very delightful experience, it tends to bring a sense of calm and peace into our lives. Music is something that holds the power to connect you with the divine. He also takes part in jaagraans, bhagwat mandalis apart from doing folk music and has performed in various locations within the state and the country. He has received many laurels and appreciation from performing in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh Maharashtra, Punjab, Bihar and Haryana in festivals and pulled off brilliant performances at national and state-level government festivals only to dazzle the crowds and regards his performance at Maharashtra as the most memorable experience. On asked why he considers it to be the most favourite one, he replies that the coconut water over there is very good with his humble and sweet smile. He lives in a joint family of 13 people and has. Thus, he also has to work as a full-time musician in order to make ends meet. Despite all his struggles he strives to keep developing his craft and dreams to keep doing music till his last breath and wishes someday in the future to see himself succeed through the art that he loves so much. But sadly, he never taught his children folk music, rather made them study so that they can get a job to sustain themselves.
