A singer who belongs to the Manganiyar community of Jaisalmer, who focuses on creating and embodying Darbari folk melodies through his masterful vocals. Sajan Khan belongs to a musical family of multiple generations of artists and instrumentalists. He understands the traditional classical melodies deeply and knows how to play various instruments like Dhol and Khartal as well. His father, Nazir Khan, was a coveted musician in his region and played Harmonium with veracious expertise.
Sajan Khan was born in the village Khelana, which is situated in the district Jaisalmer and started learning music at the age of 10. After the unfortunate demise of his father during the same year, he had to take the responsibility of earning a livelihood for his family as the eldest male member. He began to play on various occasions like childbirth, weddings and birthdays for the royal Rajput families of Jaisalmer.
He performed in front of a crowd for the first time at the age of 16 and has since then seized a number of opportunities to flaunt his talents for the people. He has performed all over the country and as well as Dubai in 2019 and missed out on an opportunity to perform in Hong Kong only because he wasn’t provided with the visa.
At the moment Sajan Khan routinely does shows in Hotels and resorts of Jaisalmer and stays at the Kalakar colony. He wishes to take his art form forward and promote the culture of Rajasthan through his ages-old melodies and rare musical and vocal talent.
