Sajan Khan

Sajan Khan is an artist in the folk music spectrum of Rajasthan. He belongs to Dagga tribe of the Manganiyar community which has a history of passing on their musical talents down to the future generations. Sajan hails from Khelana village of Jaisalmer district.

Sajan has been learning music since a young age of 5 and began to learn from his guru, Nazir Khan. Most people in this community begin learning music as a child and master more than one traditional instrument during their lifetime. Similarly, Sajan started learning music with the help of Harmonium and vocals, and now mastered his vocal ability. Along with the group of musicians lead by Edhe Khan he has performed in almost all districts of Rajasthan and various Indian cities like Delhi and Lucknow. He has also made an appearance in Dubai.

Due to a lack of latitude in the field of folk music within the state and the country, these artists have to resort to other jobs in order to earn a livelihood for their families. Currently, at the age of 34, Sajan aspires to make an impact on the livelihoods of the people in the community through his craft through more opportunities to showcase the art form he is inordinately passionate about.
