Rajesh Tamhane

Rajesh Tamhane is an artist aged 55 years from Baner, Pune, Maharashtra, immersed in the arts for more than 30 years, mainly in Marathi cinema and Lok Kala. Though having attended school until the 8th standard, the man’s creative proclivities in music and performance run deep. As a child, seeing Tamasha made him interested in pursuing it. Rajesh is the Taal player and chorus singer, learning the art from acclaimed Ranjan Deshpande. He has performed in many major programs like Goa Festival, Delhi Festival, and across Maharashtra. Music is the soul of his life, and he proudly calls himself a Lok Kalawant, that is, a person trained in several folk forms. The versatility of Rajesh allows him to perform and contribute with ease in both traditional and contemporary performances. His devotion to preserving and popularizing folk music speaks of his life-long endeavor toward it.
