Prakash Ram, 40, from Almora, has been playing the Hudka since age five, inspired by his father’s Jagar folk performances. He sings Chhapeli and Chachari, and also plays the dholak. Trained by Sunil Kumar at Bhatkhande and mentored by Nandlal ji in Lucknow, Prakash is a graded artist with All India Radio. Despite starting as a mason and milk seller, he now earns mainly from music, performing in government cultural programs.
