He is a young individual who lives with his family of 7 people. He is currently pursuing his schooling and is in 11th standard. Nimba Ram has been learning music since the age of 5, he got inspired from his grandfather in terms of folk music. He used to watch him sing at various occasions. The sweet harmonious melodies struck his senses and led to the making of a folk artist. He wishes to study further and get some good education.
He belongs to the Meghwal community. It’s been 5 years since he has been performing with the group. He plays dholak and aspires to learn more folk instruments.
Most of the shows Nimba Ram performs in are local (within the Barmer city). He mostly performs bhajans. He does around 1-2 shows per month and gets around Rs 2000-3000 per show.
His community believes that singing is a kind of healing and meditation. He does it because it provides him serenity and happiness. He believes money is secondary, the musicians take whatever is offered. They see singing as a spiritual act and that it is for the betterment of society.
