Milkhi Ram

Milkhi Ram, 77, is a retired teacher. He is a singer and has been with the group for 10 years. He has profound knowledge about the history and culture of Kangra. He was part of another group 35 years ago, Ashapuri Jagat Mandal. Milkhi Ram is the teacher of Bishwanath Ji. Milkhi Ram’s teacher was Mast Ram who hailed from Kangra. He wishes the youth to learn about musical heritage. He wants that people should be more interested in traditional Indian instruments like dholak, tabla, harmonium, etc else they will be forgotten. He wants that children should study their culture at a young age so that they should know their identity. Such knowledge should be added into the course curriculum. Schools or cultural centres shall be made to spread awareness regarding cultural heritage.
