Madhuri Shyam Gholap

Madhuri Shyam Gholap, who hails from Dhasai, Taluka Murabad, Thane, Maharashtra, is a 25-year-old budding artist whose love for music runs deep. Although she has studied pharmacy, her heart lies in music. She has spent five years learning various styles of Marathi folk music like Gavalan and Abhang. She associated herself with singing from childhood and is an accomplished harmonium player as well. Madhuri’s family follows a long tradition of music. Her father and brother have been involved in music, which helped her in nurturing this interest. She has been fortunate to be guided by eminent music teachers like Badhekar Sir and Gayatri Gaikwad. Under her commitment, she wishes to help preserve and prosper the traditional music of her family and community. Very much devoted to this cause, she plans not merely to carry forward the long account of Marathi folk music but also to carve out her own musical identity and spread her passion for music and knowledge to others.
