Khanjri plays an essential role in Kachiyai music. It is the only percussion instrument used in Kachiyai music. There are at least two or more Khanjries used in Kachiyai performance. There are two rhythm patterns used in Kachiyai. In the beginning, it starts with a slow tempo (Madhyalay), and at the end of the song, it goes to the up-tempo (Drutlay), which gives a fantastic groovy swing with the Kachiyai Dhun. Kishorilal is 64 years old and a Khanjri player from a small village in Hamirpur called Muskera. He has been playing Khanjri since his childhood. Like the other group members, Kishori Lal belongs to the Kushwaha Family. And he learned this art from his Elders, continuing this family tradition.
