Hansraj is more like a friend of Mahendra Yadav. When Mahendra started performing, he was with him from the beginning. Hansraj is 61 years old and belongs to the same village of Mahendra Yadav known as Amiliya near Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh. His uncle was a folk musician he learnt from his uncle, and for the last 30 years, he has been playing Khadtal in Mahendra Yadav’s group he regularly performs in the local areas and also in some major cities like Delhi and Gorakhpur.
