An instrumentalist whose expertise lies in playing the Shehnai, Deen Dayal is crucial for his group and has been with them for 12 years now. Shehnai artists are considered a rarity in the region nowadays which makes him all the more valuable to the group.
He started learning the instrument at the age of 12 from his guru, Tekchand Ji. He also knows how to play Karnal and various percussion instruments like Dhol and Nagada. He earns a living through professions such as sewing and driving a taxi but carries his love for music forward. He has been a guru to his daughter who seems to be a talented vocalist, passing on his knowledge of the craft.
Deen Dayal is a devoted individual who is a spiritual guru for his community and aspires to make breakthroughs in the field of music, taking this traditional form of the art forward and encouraging the younger generations to do the same.
