Bundu Khan

Bundu Khan is a 20-year-old folk singer from Badnawa village in Barmer, Rajasthan. He was taught by his guru Sardar Khan Langa and currently performs with his family. Bundu sings traditional songs from his community but does not write his own songs. He sings songs that fall in the Khamai, Maru, Kilad and Des Raag family. He family consists of 15-20 members with singing as their only profession. Bundu is married but has no kids. Although he himself has only been schooled till Class 3, post which he dropped out of school to become a full-time artist, he laments the loss of education and aspires to put his own kids to school. During peak season, Bundu receives requests to perform between 10-15 shows from which he earns about Rs. 800-1000/show. He usually gets his bookings from local community members who have seen him perform before. Bundu has performed in Australia, London and other cities in Europe and recounts his London performance as most memorable. He dreams of being an accomplished artist.
