Group: Gulla Ram and Group
Bhura Ram, 35, lives in a village named Bishala 30 kms from Barmer city. There are 8 members in his family and he is the only one earning a living. 3 generations of his family have been musicians and that is where he got his interest in folk music. He also does farming to support his family. On an average Bhura gets around 15 shows per month and most of them are local. He gets all these shows on a recommendation basis or through word of mouth.
He is the only person in the group who can play most of the folk instruments. He also plans on opening up a school where he can teach anyone who has an interest in the art form.
He gets paid around Rs2000 per show and most of the shows he performs are in Rajasthan. He also works with other groups in order to get some extra income on the table.
