Bhikha Ram

Bhikha Ram, 61, is one of the eldest and most experienced members of the group. He belongs to the Meghwal caste which is listed as a scheduled caste under the constitution of our country. He has been performing for more than 22 years and started learning music when he was 35. Earlier he used to do farming and labor work but he always had an interest in music and culture. As a kid, he used to watch all the folk artists performing bhajans and devoting their time and energy into worshipping God and it was about that time he developed an interest in that kind of music. He has got a family of 5 people and no one is into singing. He does not belong to a musical family.

Bhikha Ram learned solely through observation. He plays manjira in the group and he would like learning other folk instruments. He wishes to perform in other cities of Rajasthan and let people be aware of the art that he and his group practices. Sona Ram (his brother and friend) is his idol in the field of music and life.
