Bhaira lives in a village named Meethda, 18 km from Barmer. He belongs to the Bhil community which is listed as a scheduled tribe under the constitution of our country. He is from musical family background and has been learning folk music for the past 10 years. He plays ravanhattha in the group and also works as a farmer to support his family financially. Their group performs Pabuji ki padh at various occasions and auspicious events. They are quite famous in Barmer which helps them get local shows. Thakraji has been a major influence in his life. Bhaira gets around Rs2000 per show but to him, it’s not about money.
He wants this art to get the recognition it deserves. Pabhuji was a warrior who saved the holy cows from the wrath of the Mughals. Even after such a long time, his heroic acts are sung by the folk artists of Rajasthan. Legend has it that Pabuji fought even after he had been beheaded.
Bhaira is an educated member of the group and wishes to get a government job someday. He wants to be financially stable to support his passion for art.
